August 1 – Day 1: Arrival in Liverpool
Arrive in Liverpool and check into the elegant Municipal Hotel. Gather in the evening for a welcome dinner as we begin our esoteric journey through Wales and beyond.
August 2 – Day 2: Liverpool: Cathedrals & Culture
Explore Liverpool Cathedral, the largest in Britain, followed by St. Luke’s Bombed Out Church, a haunting memorial of WWII. Walk the historic docklands, see the iconic Beatles statue, and visit the Liverpool Museum. Enjoy lunch at Riva Blu Italian Restaurant & Bar. Spend the afternoon exploring more of the city or relaxing at the hotel before dinner.
August 3 – Day 3: Chester to Conwy
Check out and stop at Chester Cathedral, then visit St. John the Baptist Church, with intriguing Templar associations. Continue to St. Winefride’s Church and the National Catholic Shrine of St. Winefride, a place of pilgrimage for centuries. Lunch at The Royal Oak. In the afternoon, explore St. Asaph Cathedral—Britain’s smallest cathedral—and the medieval walled town of Conwy, including Conwy Castle and St. Mary’s Church. Check into Plas Dinas Country House Hotel.
August 4 – Day 4: Sacred Sites of Anglesey
Begin at Bryn Celli Ddu, a Neolithic passage tomb linked to the goddess Don. Continue to Lligwy Burial Chamber and Din Lligwy before lunch at The Kinmel Arms. Visit the site where legend says the Virgin Mary’s remains are buried, then explore Oriel Môn museum and end at Barclodiad y Gawres, a megalithic tomb with rare rock art. Dinner at the hotel.
August 5 – Day 5: Holy Isle & Castles
Visit Penmon Priory and Beaumaris Castle, one of Edward I’s great fortresses. Lunch at The Gazelle Hotel. In the afternoon, stop at Bangor Cathedral before returning to the hotel for dinner.
August 6 – Day 6: Caernarfon & Arthurian Legends
Check out and explore Caernarfon Castle, then the Roman fort of Segontium, tied to King Arthur. Lunch at Glaslyn Artisan Ice Cream & Pizza. Visit the 13th-century church of St. Mary and journey to Dinas Emrys, legendary battleground of the red and white dragons later associated with Merlin. Make a brief stop at Beddgelert’s Grave, then pass Pont Aberglaslyn, where Arthurian battles are said to have taken place. Continue to Slebech Estate, once a Templar commandery, where tunnels still remain. Dinner at the estate.
August 7 – Day 7: Pembrokeshire Mysteries
Visit St. Brynach’s Church, home of the mysterious “Bleeding Yew Tree.” Continue to Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber, Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, and the Gors Fawr Stone Circle. See Carreg Coetan Arthur before lunch at The Golden Lion Hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Gorsedd Stone Circle and St. David’s Cathedral before returning for dinner at Slebech.
August 8 – Day 8: Castles & the Templars
Begin at Manorbier Castle, ancestral seat of the de Vale family with Templar ties, and nearby St. James the Great Church. Continue to Carew Castle, associated with the same family’s Templar connections. Lunch at Black Pool Mill Restaurant before returning to Slebech Estate for dinner.
August 9 – Day 9: To Cardiff via Brecon & Caerleon
Check out and journey south. Visit Brecon Cathedral and Priory, then Caerleon—linked to Arthurian legends and once imagined as the site of the Round Table. Explore the Roman amphitheatre and St. Cadoc’s Church. Lunch at The Priory before continuing to Cardiff. Check into the stylish Voco Hotel for two nights.
