April 13 – Day 1: Arrive in Dublin

Arrive in Dublin and check into the historic Clontarf Castle Hotel, dating back to 1172 and once a preceptory of the Knights Templar. The castle’s blend of medieval architecture and modern luxury offers the perfect introduction to Ireland. Take some time to settle in and explore the atmospheric grounds before gathering for dinner at the hotel.

April 14 – Day 2: Dublin’s Medieval Wonders

Spend the day exploring Dublin. Visit St. Michan’s Church, home to mummified medieval bodies, followed by St. Patrick’s Cathedral (1220). Enjoy lunch in Temple Bar, a district named after Sir William Temple, whose family allegedly descended from the Knights Templar and were said to practice rituals at Trinity College or in his residence at the Giddy Dolphin Pub. Continue to Christ Church Cathedral, a medieval place of worship notorious for its mummified cat and rat. End the afternoon at the Guinness Storehouse Tour & Experience, where you’ll see the home of the world-famous beer. Dinner at The Knights Bar back at the hotel.

April 15 – Day 3: Ancient Tombs and Templar Ruins

Begin at the Hill of Tara, seat of Ireland’s High Kings since the Iron Age. Continue to the mystical megalithic tombs of Newgrange, Dowth, and Knowth (lunch at the café). Visit Old Mellifont Abbey, a Cistercian abbey near Newgrange and Dowth, then Monasterboice, with its 5th-century monastic ruins, a stone tower, and beautifully carved high crosses. On the way back, stop at the Knights Templar fortress of Baldongan Castle. Dinner nearby at Picasso.

April 16 – Day 4: Dolmens, Round Towers, and Ruins

Check out of Clontarf Castle and drive toward Cork. Along the way, visit the Old Kilcullen Round Tower, Brownshill Dolmen (a portal tomb), and Leac an Scail (Kilmogue Dolmen), Ireland’s tallest dolmen. Stop for lunch in the seaside town of Ardmore at Whitehorses Restaurant, followed by visits to the Ardmore Round Tower and the ruins of St. Declan’s Cathedral. Continue to Cork and check into the elegant Hayfield Manor Hotel, with dinner in their Garden Restaurant.

April 17 – Day 5: Blarney Castle and Cork Leisure

Visit the legendary Blarney Castle, home of the famous Blarney Stone. Lunch at the Muskberry Arms nearby. Return to Cork to tour Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral, then enjoy a free afternoon. Dinner at the hotel’s more formal restaurant, Orchid.

April 18 – Day 6: Sacred Waters, Cork’s Fort, and Tapas

Visit the pilgrimage site of the Holy Well of St. John, where spring water is said to have healed a blind man. (Bring a bottle if you’d like to collect water.) Back in Cork, tour the 17th-century Elizabeth Fort. Lunch at Gallo & Galetti (Italian). Free afternoon. Dinner at Bloom (6 PM), featuring tapas-style bites and cocktails.

April 19 – Day 7: Medieval Abbeys and Ogham Stones

Check out and travel to Muckross Abbey (15th century) and Muckross House, with lunch at the café. Continue to the Dunlop Ogham Stones (5th–7th centuries) and the Cahergal Stone Fort, possibly influenced by Scota’s Egyptian party who built similar forts in the Iberian Peninsula. Check into your hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

April 20 – Day 8: Sacred Sites, Ruins, and Spirits of Dingle

Visit St. Mary’s Cathedral (19th century), then head north to Scota’s alleged gravesite. Continue to an ancient monastic settlement with early Christian carved stones and distinctive beehive-shaped dwellings. See the nearby Ballywiheen Early Christian Site. Lunch at the Ceann Sibéal Hotel. In the afternoon, visit St. Brendan’s Oratory, Kilmalkedar Church, Cathair Deargain Ring Forts, the Gallarus Oratory, and Cathair na bhFionnúrach. End the day with a Dingle Distillery Tour.

April 21 – Day 9: Lough Gur Sacred Landscape,
Knights’ Tombs, Book of Kells & Farewell

Begin the day exploring the Lough Gur sacred landscape, including the Lough Gur Wedge Tomb and Grange Stone Circle, an ancient ceremonial complex where intriguingly Egyptian-looking faience artifacts have been discovered, suggesting long-distance cultural connections in deep antiquity.

Continue the return journey toward Dublin, stopping at a ruined church with a round tower (the 5th tallest in Ireland) and the medieval stone tombs of knights at Grangefertagh. Back in Dublin, view the Book of Kells and tour Dublin Castle. Check into the Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Club. Farewell dinner at the hotel.
