VIP Outlander Experience: The Gathering

We are thrilled to welcome Josh Horowitz—renowned host of Happy Sad Confused—as the official emcee for the VIP Outlander Experience: The Gathering and host of The Royal Red Carpet Gala.

With his signature blend of charisma, humor, and storytelling, Josh will guide guests through two extraordinary evenings of celebration, conversation, and Outlander magic.

Richard Rankin is a Scottish actor best known for his role as Roger MacKenzie on the hit Starz series Outlander. A graduate of Langside College in Glasgow, Rankin has built a diverse career across television, film, and theatre, with notable performances in Burnistoun, The Replacement, and Shetland.

Steven Cree is a Scottish actor best known to Outlander fans for his role as Ian Murray, the loyal brother-in-law of Jamie Fraser. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Cree has built a strong career across television and film, with appearances in productions such as Maleficent, Churchill, and A Discovery of Witches. His heartfelt portrayal of Ian Murray has made him a beloved part of the Outlander family, and he is delighted to join guests at the VIP Outlander Experience: The Gathering.

Beloved by fans for his unforgettable role as Murtagh Fraser in Outlander, Duncan Lacroix brings both wit and warmth to every stage he graces.

Charlie “Chick” Allan is a Scottish actor, stunt performer, and combat specialist appearing as Balloch in the Outlander prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Renowned for his deep connection to Scottish history and heritage, he is also a founder of the Clanranald Trust for Scotland and a driving force behind the medieval village of Duncarron. Charlie brings authenticity, physicality, and lived historical knowledge to the screen and is delighted to join fans at the VIP Outlander Experience: The Gathering.

Craig McGinlay is a Scottish actor best known to Outlander fans for his role as Andrew MacNeil in Season 4 of the series. He has also appeared in the 2017 film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, showcasing his talent in historical and action-driven productions. Craig’s on-screen presence and connection to the world of Outlander make him a great addition to the VIP Outlander Experience: The Gathering, and he looks forward to meeting fans and sharing stories from the set.

From the ancient Picts and Viking invasions to the clans, clearances, and cultural revival, his storytelling spans millennia of history. Known to many from his appearance on Men in Kilts, Alistair combines vast knowledge with evocative narrative, guiding audiences through the landscapes, legends, and legacies that define Scotland.

Step into Scotland’s dramatic past with Dr. Arran Johnston, Director of the Scottish Battlefields Trust and one of the nation’s foremost historians of Jacobite warfare. In his engaging talks—“The Battle of Prestonpans, in Fact and Fiction” and “The Military Leadership of Prince Charles Edward Stuart”—Dr. Johnston will bring pivotal moments of the 1745 Rising to life, blending meticulous research with captivating storytelling.

Dr Alexandra Dold is a Germany-born scholar whose passion for literature and history led her to Scotland—and into the world of Outlander. She earned her PhD on Outlander at the University of the Highlands and Islands, examining the novels as public history through narrative techniques like intertextuality and time-traveling chronologies.

Her research explores the global “Outlander effect,” including its impact on heritage tourism and modern perceptions of Scotland’s past. Alexandra teaches Comparative Literature at the University of Glasgow and works as a historical consultant for historical fiction, including Philip Paris’s award-winning The Last Witch of Scotland.

Hailey Beaupre, known as The Sassenach Historian, is a Scottish historian, tour guide, and aspiring author based in Scotland. She leads immersive private tours that bring Scotland’s history, culture, landscapes, and hidden stories vividly to life.

While well known for her work within the Outlander world, Hailey also explores Scottish witchcraft and overlooked historical narratives. She will present a talk titled Witchcraft in Scotland.
