You’ll walk the ruins of Fort William, dine at top-tier restaurants, sip whisky in fairy glens, and visit the very kirk where Jamie and Claire wed. From the misty Glencoe hills to the coastal ruins of Dunure, this journey blends cinematic wonder, rich history, and luxurious comfort at every turn.
Enjoy overnight stays at iconic properties including the Balmoral Hotel, Gleneagles, Kingshouse Hotel, and Trump Turnberry Resort. July 18 –
Day 1: Welcome to Scotland
Arrive in Edinburgh and transfer to the luxurious Fonab Castle Hotel, our home for the first three nights of the tour. That evening, we’ll gather for a special welcome dinner featuring a curated tasting menu in elegant surroundings. Let the adventure begin!
July 19 – Day 2: Monasteries, Beheadings & Black Kirks
- Begin the day at Aberdour Castle, the monastery where Jamie recovered after Wentworth.
- Continue to Callendar House, where the Duke of Sandringham met his end.
- Explore Culross, known as Cranesmuir in Outlander, and visit Culross Abbey.
- Enjoy lunch at the charming Red Lion Inn.
- Visit West Kirk, used as the Black Kirk in the series.
- Stop at Clackmannan Tower, built in the 1300s by a descendant of Robert the Bruce and later home to Jacobite heroine Catherine Bruce—who famously knighted Robert Burns.
- Return to Fonab Castle Hotel for dinner and a relaxing evening overlooking Loch Faskally.
July 20 – Day 3: Witches & Wine
- Visit the haunting Maggie Wall Witch Monument, followed by Tibbermore Kirk, where Claire and Geillis were tried for witchcraft.
- Head to Cairn O’Mohr Winery for a Scottish fruit wine tasting and casual lunch.
- Return to Fonab Castle Hotel for some downtime and dinner at the hotel.
July 21 – Day 4: Highlands & Highlanders
- Check out of Fonab Castle Hotel and drive north into Glencoe, where Outlander’s opening credits were filmed.
- Explore the Glencoe Folk Museum, then enjoy lunch at The Laroch.
- Visit the West Highland Museum, featuring Jacobite and archaeological artifacts.
- Stop at the ruins of the real-life Fort William.
- Check into Kingshouse Hotel, featured in Men in Kilts. Dinner at the hotel.
July 22 – Day 5: Fairy Glens & Castles
- Witness the Jacobite Steam Train crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct.
- Visit nearby St Mary’s Church.
- Stroll through the Fairy Glen and enjoy lunch at The Three Chimneys, near Talisker.
- Warm up with a whisky tasting.
- Tour Dunvegan Castle & Gardens, then check in at the Skeabost House Hotel for dinner.
July 23 – Day 6: Stirling & Spirits
- Check out and head into Stirling.
- Stop at Eilean Donan Castle.
- Visit Stirling Castle and grab take out lunch at The Portcullis Pub.
- See the King’s Knot, often linked to Arthurian legend.
- Tour Stirling Distillery for a gin tasting and some spirited history.
- Check into Mar Hall Resort, where we’ll dine that evening.
July 24 – Day 7: Wakefields & Lovat Lore
- Embark on a private tour of Hunterston House and Castle, used as Reverend Wakefield’s residence.
- Lunch at The Corner House.
- Visit Dean Castle Country Park, featured as Beaufort Castle, home of Clan Fraser of Lovat.
- Dinner back at Mar Hall.
July 25 – Day 8: Coastal Castles & Silkie Shores
- Depart for Ayr, birthplace of Scotland’s beloved bard, Robert Burns. Visit the Rabbie Burns Birthplace Museum.
- Lunch in Ayr.
- Explore Dunure Castle and Harbour, featured as the departure point for Claire and Jamie in Seasons 3 & 4, and as Silkie Island harbour.
- Check into the stunning Trump Turnberry Resort. Dinner at The Duel in the Sun, a refined steak and lobster concept restaurant.
July 27 – Day 10: Journey to Edinburgh
- Check out and head toward Edinburgh.
- Begin the day with a visit to Sam Heughan’s Galloway Distillery for a guided tour and whisky tasting.
- Continue to Cairnpapple Hill, an ancient and mystical megalithic site steeped in prehistoric history.
- Arrive in Edinburgh and check into Prestonfield House.
- That evening, enjoy dinner at the Michelin-starred The Kitchin.
July 28 – Day 11: Farewells & Final Revelations
- Visit Preston Mill, used in Season 1.
- Enjoy a private tour of the Battle of Prestonpans Jacobite Museum with a local historian.
- Delight in afternoon tea at the Signet Library, featured in Season 2 and later as the governor’s ball venue.
- End the journey with a visit to Holyrood Palace, where Bonnie Prince Charlie held court.
- Gather for a final farewell dinner at The Court Restaurant, featuring a 6-course tasting menu—our last toast to the magic of the Highlands and the world of Outlander.
