April 22 – Day 1: Journey to Jeremiah’s Grave

Check out of our hotel at 9 am and begin a 1.5-hour drive to the alleged grave site of the Jewish prophet Jeremiah, who is said to have escorted the daughter of Zedekiah, the last King of Judah, to Ireland in 583 BC, where she married the High King of Ireland at Tara. Arrive at Loughcrew Megalithic Centre, where we will explore all of the sites, particularly Cairn T.

We then visit Faughart, the birthplace of the legendary saint, St. Brigid, and her shrine. Brigid was considered a living continuation of the Celtic goddess Brig. We’ll also visit the nearby Ballykeel Dolmen, followed by a stop at Proleek Dolmen before a 2-hour drive to Galgorm Manor Hotel. Dinner here.
