Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Dalhousie Castle Hotel
Arrive at the historic Dalhousie Castle Hotel by 3 PM, one of Scotland’s oldest castles open for overnight stays, and ancestral home to the Ramsays, who were closely connected to the Sinclairs of Rosslyn through marriage. Settle into your rooms and gather for a welcome dinner later in the castle’s renowned restaurant, “The Dungeon.” Before dinner, join us at 5:30 PM for a complimentary welcome drink to kick off our journey. Dinner will be served at 6 PM.
Day 2: Orangery, Temple, and Rosslyn Chapel
Start with breakfast in the Orangery at 9 AM, followed by an 11 AM departure. Visit the quaint town of Temple, site of Scotland’s original Knights Templar Preceptory built in the 12th century, where Templar graves with ancient symbols remain. Continue to Rosslyn Chapel to explore its connections to the Holy Grail and uncover the secrets of its mysterious carvings. Walk down to Roslin Castle. Dinner at a local pub, followed by an evening lecture by Hayley.
Day 3: Crossing the Firth of Forth to Wemyss Caves and Dunino Den
Enjoy breakfast in the Orangery at 8 AM and check out by 9:30 AM. After a brief stop for lunch snacks, we’ll cross the Firth of Forth to visit the Wemyss Caves, thought to be a hiding place for the Knights Templar, aided by the St. Clairs. Next, we’ll explore Dunino Den, a mystical site once used for Pictish king coronations, with ancient carvings like the Green Man that link back to Rosslyn. Offerings left here today hint at continued practices of old traditions. Arrive at Murrayshall Estate for two nights.
Day 4: Meigle Museum and Scone Palace
After breakfast at 9 AM, we’ll begin our journey with a visit to the Meigle Museum to view its remarkable Pictish stones and hear the legends surrounding Vanora’s Mound, rumored to be the final resting place of King Arthur’s queen, Guinevere. Next, we’ll head to the storied Scone Palace, where ancient kings of Scotland, including Robert the Bruce, were crowned. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon back at the hotel, with time to unwind, explore the grounds, or take advantage of the spa facilities.
Day 5: Perth Museum, Stone of Destiny, Wallace Monument, and Stirling Distillery
Today begins with a visit to the Perth Museum, followed by a stop at the Stone of Destiny, shrouded in mystery and thought by some to hold powerful origins. We’ll then continue to the iconic Wallace Monument to celebrate William Wallace, Scotland’s legendary hero. In the afternoon, we’ll experience a tasting at Stirling Distillery, enjoying locally crafted gins. We’ll finish the day by checking into the splendid Cromlix Hotel, where we’ll spend the next two nights.
Day 6: Stirling Castle, Round Table Earthworks, and Bannockburn
We’ll start with a tour of Stirling Castle and the nearby Round Table Earthworks, a site believed to be linked to King Arthur. Afterward, we’ll break for lunch at The Portcullis before heading to Bannockburn, where Robert the Bruce and his Templar allies clinched a pivotal victory for Scotland.
Day 7: Isle of Mull – Iona
After breakfast, we’ll set out around 10 AM to experience the tranquility of the Isle of Iona, steeped in Celtic Christian heritage and home to the ancient Iona Abbey. Following our explorations, we’ll return to the Isle of Mull Hotel & Spa, where you can unwind with the hotel’s spa facilities and enjoy the coastal views before a relaxing evening.
Day 8: Duart Castle and Lochbuie Stone Circle
Today, we’ll explore Duart Castle, the seat of Clan Maclean, set against Mull’s stunning coastal scenery. Later, we’ll visit the mystical Lochbuie Stone Circle, a site of prehistoric significance surrounded by dramatic Mull landscapes and local legend.
Day 9: Kilmartin Church, Standing Stones, and Dunadd Fort
Have an early breakfast and check out by 9 AM. Visit Kilmartin Church to see its Templar graves and ancient stones, then explore the nearby standing stones and Dunadd Fort, an intriguing site potentially linked to King Arthur and the legendary “sword in the stone.” Later, we’ll drive south and ferry to Isle of Arran, checking in at the Auchrannie Resort for two nights.
Day 10: Kings Caves and Lochranza Distillery
Breakfast at the resort, then set out at 10 AM for a hike to Kings Caves, believed to be a place of Templar rituals. After returning to freshen up and enjoy lunch, we’ll offer an optional whisky tasting at Lochranza Distillery in the afternoon.
Day 11: Kilwinning Abbey and Lodge 0
After breakfast, check out at 9 AM. Take the ferry back to the mainland and head to Kilwinning Abbey, rumored to have safeguarded Templar treasures following their escape from persecution in France. Visit the Masonic Lodge 0 and its museum before settling into a hotel near the airport. A farewell dinner will be held at 5:30 PM, followed by a final lecture by Hayley at 7:30 PM. Settle in at the Norton House Hotel & Spa near the airport.
Day 12: Departure
Enjoy breakfast and prepare for departure, carrying with you memories of Scotland’s rich history, legends, and mystical sites. Safe travels!
